Specimen

To conduct the test, it is required to gather fresh whole blood and separate serum or plasma from it as soon as possible to prevent hemolysis.

The obtained serum/plasma should be tested immediately after collection. If this is not possible, then the specimen should be refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C.

Using a capillary tube or dropper, the sample should be placed onto the designated spot on the cassette. Subsequently, the appropriate amount of the provided buffer dilution should be added to the cassette to initiate the test.

The Cassette comprises a plastic case with a test strip inside. Within the cassette, there is a designated space for sample placement and a window displaying test lines as positive, negative, or invalid results.

The test strip inside of the cassette utilizes an lateral flow assay to detect the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies against FMDV in serum or plasma of ovine species.
