Specimen

For this test, it is advised to collect canine fresh whole blood or to separate serum/plasma from the dog's blood as soon as possible in order to prevent hemolysis.

The specimen should be tested immediately after collection. If this is not possible, then the specimen should be refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C.

Using a capillary tube or dropper, the sample should be placed onto the designated spot on the cassette. Subsequently, the appropriate amount of the provided buffer dilution should be added to the cassette to initiate the test.

Form

The Cassette consists of a plastic box that contains the test strip inside. It has an area for sample placement and a window in which the lines will be displayed as a positive, negative or invalid test result.

The test strip is designed to detect the presence of antibodies against the Leishmania infantum parasite in dog's serum or plasma, and produce a measurable result.
