What is Penicillin Procaine + Neomycin?
Active Ingredients: Penicillin G Procaine, Neomycin Sulfate
Penicillin G Procaine + Neomycin Sulfate Suspension for Injection is a combination antibiotic drug that is used to treat systemic bacterial infections and secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases. It is an effective treatment for horses, companion animals, and livestock animals like camels, sheep, goats, cows and pigs.
This combination shows a broad spectrum of activity against susceptible strains of bacteria, including Corynebacterium pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus spp (non-penicillinase producing), Streptococcus spp, and Salmonella spp.
Procaine penicillin is the combination of the antibiotic benzyl penicillin and the local anesthetic agent procaine. Penicillin works by inhibiting cell wall formation. Procaine has been added to reduce the pain caused by the injection. Procaine penicillin is also known by the names of procaine benzyl penicillin and procaine G penicillin.
Neomycin Sulfate belongs to the class of medicines known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria cell. Neomycin Sulfate shows action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococci, E. coli, Haemophilus influenza, and many strains of Proteus and Pseudomonas.
It is important to note that AdvaCare's Penicillin G Procaine + Neomycin Sulfate Liquid Suspension is for veterinary purposes only, and whilst there are types available for human use, you should only use the kind that has been prescribed by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.
