It is indicated for respiratory infections such as chronic respiratory disease (CRD), pasteurellosis, mycoplasmosis, infectious coryza, and infections caused by staphylococci and streptococci.
Erythromycin belongs to the class of medicines called macrolide antibiotics, which works by inhibiting protein synthesis. It shows action against some types of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Colistin, which is also known as polymyxin E, is classified as a polymyxin antibiotic. It works by interfering with and breaking down the cell membrane of the bacteria. Colistin shows bactericidal activity against many gram-negative microorganisms, including Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Vibrio.
