What is the Newcastle + IB Vaccine?

Therapeutic Class:
Target Species:

Active Ingredients: Newcastle Disease Virus, Infectious Bronchitis Virus

Newcastle Disease (ND) + Infectious Bronchitis (IB) Vaccine is a combination live viral vaccine used for immunizing poultry against strains of the Newcastle Disease virus and Infectious Bronchitis virus. It is typically administered by eye drop, injection or spray.

Newcastle Disease is caused by an RNA virus that belongs to the genus Avulavirus within the Paramyxoviridae family. It is typically spread through respiratory and fecal matter. Though some strains of the virus only produce mild respiratory symptoms, some strains have a high mortality rate and may cause severe neurological problems in surviving poultry.

Infectious Bronchitis is highly contagious and can quickly infect an entire flock. Once infected, there is no cure, but vaccination can prevent infection caused by susceptible strains. The Infectious Bronchitis virus is classified in the genus Gammacoronavirus within the family Coronaviridae. Vaccination programs should consider the strains of the virus that are specific to the region.
