What is Doxycycline?
Active Ingredients: Doxycycline
Doxycycline Soluble Powder is an antibiotic drug used to treat certain infections in horses, dogs, cats, poultry, and livestock animals such as cows and pigs. It is indicated for the treatment of infections like leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, psittacosis, and tick-borne diseases such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
Doxycycline is classified as a tetracycline antibiotic. The active ingredient works by inhibiting the first stage of protein synthesis in the bacterial cell wall. This process is not very rapid and so doxycycline is generally used as a long-term treatment. Doxycycline shows bacteriostatic activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli, Bordetella, Campylobacter, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. It's also effective against Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia.
