What is Gentamicin + Doxycycline?
Active Ingredients: Gentamicin Sulfate + Doxycycline
Gentamicin Sulfate + Doxycycline Soluble Powder is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections in poultry and livestock animals such as cows, goats, sheep, and pigs. This combination is effective against gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by many susceptible bacteria, including E. coli, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.
Gentamicin Sulfate + Doxycycline Soluble Powder is also effective against Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, and Rickettsia.
Gentamicin is classified as an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria. Gentamicin displays bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Doxycycline is classified as a tetracycline antibiotic. This bactericidal process is not very rapid and so doxycycline is generally used as a long-term treatment. Doxycycline shows bacteriostatic activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
