It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections, such as pneumonia, caused by susceptible strains of bacteria like Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, and Pasteurella multocida.

Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis. Tilmicosin shows a broad spectrum of activity against Mycoplasma, Pasteurella and Haemophilus, and gram-positive organisms, such as Staphylococcus and Corynebacterium.
