What is Diminazene Diaceturate?
Active Ingredients: Diminazene Diaceturate
Diminazene Diaceturate for Injection is used to treat some types of protozoal infections in livestock animals, horses, and dogs. It is effective against protozoa such as babesia, piroplasmosis, Trypanosoma, and trypanosomiasis. Diminazene also showed activity against bacteria like Brucella and Streptococcus.
It should be noted that this drug is slowly metabolized, so it may not completely kill the organism causing infection. However, it can reduce the severity of the pathogen. In some cases, additional drugs might be needed. In some species of animals, retreatment may be necessary.
Diminazene is classified as an organic diamidine compound. It is thought to work by affecting the RNA or preventing DNA replication within the microorganism.
Diminazene diaceturate is sometimes referred to as diminazene aceturate and diminazene.
