What is Bithionol Sulfoxide?
Active Ingredients: Bithionol Sulfoxide
Bithionol Sulfoxide Boluses are an anthelmintic drug used for the treatment of certain parasites such as tapeworms and flukes. It's used for the treatment of fascioliasis and paramphistomosis. Bithionol also shows good activity against adult Oesophagostomum and some cestodes in camels, cows, goats, and sheep.
Bithionol Sulfoxide also acts as an intestinal disinfectant. It can be administered to pregnant and lactating females without any change of feeding. Bithionol is sometimes prescribed alongside other anthelmintic agents, such as Hexachlorophene, for more effective treatment.
Bithionol displays antibacterial, anthelmintic, and algaecide properties. It works by interfering with the parasite's neuromuscular physiology. It also impairs the formation of eggs and disrupts the efficiency of the worm's protective cuticle.
It is important to note that Bithionol Sulfoxide Boluses are for veterinary purposes only. This formulation is intended to be prescribed by a veterinary doctor or animal care specialist for an animal.
