Tetracycline HCl Eye Ointment is an antibiotic drug used to treat eye infections like conjunctivitis and trachoma. It may be used in combination with other drugs, which may be taken orally or applied topically.
This topical ointment can be used as prophylaxis to prevent bacterial conjunctivitis in neonates until systemic treatment is available.
Tetracycline HCl is the hydrochloride salt of Tetracycline. It works by inhibiting the first stage of protein synthesis within the bacteria.

Uses
What is Tetracycline HCl used for?
It is used to treat bacterial eye infections like conjunctivitis and trachoma. It is also used to prevent eye infections in newborns. Tetracycline HCl is sometimes used to treat blepharoconjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, or meibomitis.
How is Tetracycline HCl Eye Ointment used?
This medication is manufactured as a sterile ointment, which is intended for topical administration in the eyes. Always wash hands with soap and water before and after using this medication.
What dose should be applied?
For bacterial conjunctivitis, the usual dose is a thin strip applied twice a day for 7 days.
For trachoma, the usual dose is a thin strip applied twice a day for 60 days.

Side Effects

Precautions
