Mometasone Aqueous Nasal Spray is a steroid drug used to prevent and treat symptoms caused by seasonal and year-round allergies. It reduces congestion, itching, and sneezing. This medication is also used to treat certain growths in the nose (nasal polyps). This drug is intended for intranasal use only.
Mometasone belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the release of certain substances that cause inflammation.

Uses
What is Mometasone Aqueous used for?
It is used to treat or prevent nasal symptoms associated with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and non-allergic rhinitis, such as stuffy/runny nose, itching, sneezing, and post-nasal drip. It is also used to treat nasal polyps.
How is Mometasone Aqueous Nasal Spray used?
This medication is manufactured for nasal use only. Do not spray into the mouth or eyes. The bottle should be shaken well before use.
What dose should be taken?
For allergic rhinitis, the usual dose for adults is 2 sprays in each nostril, daily. If treating for the prevention of seasonal pollen allergies, treatment should begin 2 to 4 weeks before pollen season.
For the treatment of nasal polyps, the usual dose is 2 sprays in each nostril, twice daily.

Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted side effects can occur from the use of Mometasone Aqueous Nasal Spray.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to:
- bleeding from the nose
- increased nasal discharge
- sneezing, stuffy nose, or sore throat
- flu-like symptoms
Serious side effects may include:
- severe bleeding from the nose
- signs of an allergic reaction
- changes in eyesight
- signs of an infection
- growth suppression (in children)

Precautions
Do NOT use Mometasone Aqueous Nasal Spray if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- You have infections such as tuberculosis.
- You have an unhealed wound or septal ulcer in the nasal passage.
- You have eye problems such as glaucoma and cataracts.
Avoid contact with people who have infections that may spread to others (such as chickenpox, measles, and flu).
Though it is unlikely, Mometasone Aqueous may slow down a child's growth if used for long-term treatment.
