What is Metamizole Sodium?
Active Ingredients: Metamizole Sodium
Metamizole Sodium Oral Drops are a non-opioid analgesic drug used to relieve severe pain and reduce fever caused by conditions such as painful colic, tumors, acute or chronic pain, or postoperative pain. It is typically prescribed if patients do not respond to NSAIDs or other non-opioid pain-relieving medicines.
This formulation is safe for use in babies older than 3 months, children, and adults.
Metamizole Sodium belongs to the family of medicines called ampyrone sulfonates. It displays strong antipyretic, spasmolytic, and analgesic properties and weak anti-inflammatory action. Metamizole is thought to work by inhibiting central cyclooxygenase-3 and activating the cannabinoid and opioidergic system.
Metamizole is also known by the name of Dipyrone.
