What is Cyclophosphamide?
Active Ingredients: Cyclophosphamide
Cyclophosphamide for Injection is a chemotherapy drug used to treat various types of cancers, including lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, mycosis fungoides, neuroblastoma, retinoblastoma, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. It is also used to treat nephrotic syndrome in children.
The active ingredient, Cyclophosphamide, is a nitrogen mustard alkylating agent that is a member of the drug family oxazophorine. It works by slowing or stopping cell growth. Cyclophosphamide is also known by the name "cytophosphane."

Uses
What is Cyclophosphamide used for?
It is used to treat various types of cancer, such as:
- breast cancer
- chronic lymphocytic leukemia
- lymphoma
- multiple myeloma
- mycosis fungoides

- retinoblastoma
Cyclophosphamide is also used to treat nephrotic syndrome in children.
How should Cyclophosphamide for Injection be used?
This medication is manufactured as a powder and stored in a vial. The powder is to be prepared into a solution, and after reconstitution, it should be administered by injection into a vein.
As Cyclophosphamide for Injection is a cytotoxic drug, caution should be used when preparing and administering the solution. Goggles, gloves, and protective gowns are recommended.
What dose should be given?
For lymphoma, the usual dose is 40-50mg/kg IV divided over 2-5 days of each cycle.
Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Cyclophosphamide.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to:
- alopecia
- nausea
- vomiting
- stomatitis

Precautions
