What is Sulfadimidine Sodium?
Active Ingredients: Sulfadimidine Sodium
Sulfadimidine Sodium Injection is a drug used to treat infections in cows, goats, poultry, sheep, and pigs. It is indicated for gastrointestinal, respiratory tract, and urogenital infections. It is combined with chlortetracycline and penicillin to combat weight loss in pigs with atrophic rhinitis.
Sulfadimidine is classified within the sulfonamide group of antimicrobial drugs. It works by inhibiting purine synthesis. Sulfadimidine shows bactericidal action against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, such as Corynebacterium, E.coli, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Pasteurella, Salmonella, and Streptococcus spp. Sulfadimidine is also known by the name of sulfamethazine or sulfadiazine.
