What is Oxytetracycline + Thiamphenicol?
Active Ingredients: Oxytetracycline, Thiamphenicol, Paracetamol, Prednisolone, Lidocaine HCl
Oxytetracycline + Thiamphenicol + Paracetamol + Prednisolone + Lidocaine HCl Injection is a combination drug used to treat infectious diseases in cats, cows, dogs, goats, sheep and horses. It is indicated for the treatment of many types of bacterial infections, such as salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, enteritis, mastitis, and respiratory infections.
This combination drug contains two types of antibiotics, an analgesic/antipyretic agent, a corticosteroid, and a local anesthetic.
The two antibiotics display a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Diplococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the family called tetracyclines. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria. Thiamphenicol (thiophenicol and dextrosulphenidol) is an antibiotic similar in activity to chloramphenicol.
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is an analgesic and antipyretic. It reduces symptoms like pain and fever that are caused by the disease. Prednisolone is classified as a corticosteroid, which prevents and targets inflammation. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic to help minimize the pain caused by an intramuscular injection of this medicine.
