What is Oxytetracycline + Thiamphenicol + Flunixin Meglumine?
Active Ingredients: Oxytetracycline, Thiamphenicol, Flunixin Meglumine
Oxytetracycline + Thiamphenicol + Flunixin Meglumine Injection is a combination drug used to treat and prevent infectious diseases in livestock animals like cows, sheep, goats, and pigs. In cattle, it is indicated for respiratory infections, GI infections, metritis, mastitis, septicemia and secondary infections.
In sheep and goats, this drug is indicated for respiratory, urogenital, and gastrointestinal infections. It's also effective for mastitis and skin or skin structure infections, such as infected wounds.
This medicine combines two types of antibiotics and an NSAID.
Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the family called tetracyclines. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacteria. Thiamphenicol (thiophenicol and dextrosulphenidol) is an antibiotic similar in activity to chloramphenicol.
Flunixin meglumine has been added to reduce the symptoms caused by the infection. It reduces pain, inflammation and fever. Flunixin is classified as a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which works by inhibiting the action of cyclooxygenase.
