Enrofloxacin Injection is an antibiotic drug used to treat certain bacterial infections in both large and small animals. It is often used to treat skin and ear infections in dogs and cats and urinary infections in dogs. It is also used to treat respiratory infections in cows, pigs, sheep, horses, goats and poultry.
Enrofloxacin belongs to the family of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It works by inhibiting DNA and RNA synthesis. Enrofloxacin displays bactericidal activity against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, Pasteurella, Proteus, Campylobacter, and Klebsiella.

What is Enrofloxacin used for?
It is used to treat bacterial infections such as:
- skin and soft tissue infections
- urinary tract infections
- Chlamydophila felis infections (in cats)
- ulcerative colitis caused by Escherichia coli (in dogs)
- gastrointestinal tract infections
- mastitis
- salmonellosis
- respiratory infections, including enzootic pneumonia

What animals can be treated with Enrofloxacin Injection?
This medicine is recommended for many species of animals, including cats, dogs, poultry, horses, and livestock animals like cows, goats, sheep, and pigs.
How is Enrofloxacin Injection used?
This medication has been manufactured as a liquid, which is packaged in a vial. It is intended to be administered by IM (intramuscular), SC (subcutaneous), or IV (intravenous) injection.
How should Enrofloxacin Injection be stored?
This medication should be stored in a dark, dry location under 15-25°C. The vial should be sealed tightly.
What is the withdrawal period for Enrofloxacin?
For cattle, calves, sheep, and goats, the withdrawal period is 21 days for meat. For pigs, it is 14 days. For milk, the withdrawal time is 4 days. Exact durations may be different depending on the country’s regulations.
Dosage
How much Enrofloxacin should be given to cattle or pigs?
The usual dose is 2.5-5mg/kg, given once per day.
How much Enrofloxacin should be given to chicken or turkeys?
The usual dose is 10mg. The duration of treatment is 3-10 days.

Side Effects

Precautions
Do NOT use Enrofloxacin Injection for animals that:
- have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- are dehydrated.
- are small or medium breed dogs under 8 months of age, or large breed dogs.
- that have not finished their rapid-growth phase.
- are cats with kidney disease.
Treatment with this drug should be administered with caution if the animal:
- is pregnant or lactating.
- has kidney or liver disease.
- has a seizure disorder.
There are many known interactions between enrofloxacin and other drugs, including antacids, antibiotics, corticosteroids, iron, zinc, levothyroxine, mycophenolate mofetil, methotrexate, nitrofurantoin, probenecid, quinidine, sildenafil, sucralfate, theophylline, and warfarin.
This drug may affect the results of a liver enzyme blood work test.
