Vitamin B6 Injection (Pyridoxine HCl) is used in the treatment or prevention of vitamin B6 deficiency. It is also indicated for the treatment of some types of anemia and certain types of seizures in babies. Injections may be prescribed to treat symptoms and depression associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
Injections of B6 may also be given to patients with impaired gastrointestinal absorption.

What is Vitamin B6 used for?
It is used to treat or prevent vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) deficiency caused by diet, impaired gastrointestinal absorption, or drugs like isoniazid or oral contraceptives. Vitamin B6 is also used to treat certain types of anemia and seizures.

What dose should be given?
For the treatment of Vitamin B6 deficiency, the usual dose for adults is 10-20mg IM/IV given once a day for 3 weeks.
For the treatment of PMS, the usual dose is 40-500mg IM/IV, given once a day.
