Mefloquine HCl Tablets are a drug used to prevent or treat malaria. It is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate acute malaria caused by mefloquine-susceptible strains of Plasmodium falciparum or P. vivax. It is effective against malaria infection that is resistant to other antimalarials, such as chloroquine.

Mefloquine HCl is an antimalarial agent. It shows bactericidal action against gram-positive bacteria.

What is Mefloquine used for?

It is used to treat and prevent malaria.

How should Mefloquine Tablets be used?

This medication is intended to be taken orally. Mefloquine HCl Tablets should be taken with food.

What dose should be taken?

For malaria prophylaxis, the usual dose is 250mg per week. Treatment should begin 2 weeks before exposure and continue for 4 weeks after.

For uncomplicated malaria, the usual dose is 750mg as an initial dose followed by 500mg 6-12 hours later.

The dosage is based on medical condition, response to treatment, age, and weight. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for more specific guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.

Side Effects
