Uses
What is Fluvastatin Sodium used for?
It is used to treat hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in postmenarchal females and males between the ages of 10 and 16 years old. Fluvastatin is also used to reduce the risk of a cardiovascular event and to treat atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
How are Fluvastatin Sodium Capsules used?
This medication is manufactured to be taken orally.
What dose should be taken?
The usual dose is 20-80mg, divided and taken once or twice per day.

Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Fluvastatin Sodium Capsules.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to:
- muscle pain
- headache

- difficulty lifting arms or climbing stairs

Precautions
Do NOT use Fluvastatin Sodium Capsules if:
- You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

This medication may not be suitable for people with certain conditions, including:
- liver or kidney disease
- muscle problems, like pain or weakness
- diabetes
- thyroid problems
- alcohol consumption of more than 2 drinks per day
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Fluvastatin has been shown to harm a fetus, so it is recommended to use an effective form of birth control.
The risk of a serious muscle problem may increase when being treated concurrently with certain drugs, including gemfibrozil, fenofibric acid, fenofibrate, or drugs that contain niacin. Many other drugs are known to interact with Fluvastatin Sodium, including other cholesterol medications, antibiotics, antifungals, diabetes medications, seizure medications, or medicines that are used to reduce stomach acid production.
