Erythromycin Enteric-Coated Tablets are an antibiotic drug used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is indicated for the treatment of whooping cough, chlamydia, pneumonia, and more. Erythromycin is also prescribed to prevent recurrent rheumatic fever for those allergic to penicillin or sulfa drugs.
Erythromycin is classified as a macrolide antibiotic. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis.

Uses
What is Erythromycin used for?
It is used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as:

How are Erythromycin Enteric-Coated Tablets used?
This medication is intended to be taken orally.
What dose should be given?
For general bacterial infections, the usual dose for adults is 250mg every 6 hours or 500mg every 12 hours. For infants and children, the usual dose is 30-50mg/kg per day, divided and given every 6-8 hours. This medication is most effective when given on an empty stomach.
The dosage is based on medical condition, response to treatment, age, and weight. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
