What is Cyclosporine?
Active Ingredients: Cyclosporine
Cyclosporine Capsules are an immunosuppressant drug used to help prevent organ rejection during and after kidney, heart, or liver transplant operation. It is sometimes used for pancreas or cornea transplants, as well. Cyclosporine is also prescribed to treat Crohn's disease, psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis.
Cyclosporine is a nonribosomal peptide within the drug family called immunosuppressants. It works as a calcineurin inhibitor.

Uses
What is Cyclosporine used for?
It is used as prophylaxis against organ transplant rejection. It is also used to treat certain severe leprosy reactions, severe psoriasis, and severe rheumatoid arthritis.
How are Cyclosporine Capsules used?
This medication is manufactured to be taken orally.
What dose should be taken?
For prophylaxis, the usual dose is 15mg/kg per dose, given 4-12 hours before or after the operation. Then 10-15mg/kg per day for 1-2 weeks after the operation. After that, it should decrease by 5% each week to 5-10mg/kg per day, divided and taken twice a day.
The exact dosage is based on medical condition, response to the treatment, age, and weight. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
As with all pharmaceuticals, some unwanted effects can occur from the use of Cyclosporine Capsules.
Common side effects include, but may not be limited to:
- tremors
- acne
- increased facial or body hair
- increased blood pressure
- nausea or diarrhea
- painful gums
Seek medical attention if the following develop:
- signs of an allergic reaction
- difficulty with speaking, thinking, seeing, or moving
- pale skin or easy bruising
- severe headache
- seizures
- signs of high potassium levels
- signs of a kidney or liver problem
- signs of an infection

Precautions
Do NOT use Cyclosporine Capsules if:
- You are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

This medication may not be suitable for people with certain conditions, including:
- liver or kidney disease
- hypertension
- an upcoming vaccine
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult a doctor or healthcare professional before treatment.
