What is Clindamycin HCl?

Therapeutic Class:

Active Ingredients: Clindamycin HCl

Clindamycin HCl Capsules are a drug used to treat serious infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, such as peritonitis or blood toxicity. It is also used for some severe infections that are caused by streptococci, pneumococci, and staphylococci bacteria. This drug may be given to patients with penicillin allergies.

Clindamycin HCl Capsules can also be used to treat some protozoal diseases, such as malaria. This medicine will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

Clindamycin is a semi-synthetic lincosamide antibiotic with a narrow spectrum of activity. The active ingredient works by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacteria.
