What is Ampicillin + Cloxacillin?
Active Ingredients: Ampicillin, Cloxacillin
Ampicillin + Cloxacillin Capsules are a fixed-dose combination drug used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose and throat, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and gastrointestinal system. Serious adverse reactions and toxicity are rare, with exception of allergic reactions.
Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum, beta-lactam penicillin antibiotic. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
Cloxacillin is also a penicillin antibiotic that improves the efficacy of ampicillin. It also shows bactericidal action and is beta-lactamase resistant, thus making it effective against penicillin-resistant staphylococci and non-resistant staphylococci and S. pneumoniae.
The combination's synergistic effect provides a wider range of antibacterial activity for complicated infections.
AdvaCare Pharma's Ampicillin + Cloxacillin Capsules are manufactured in GMP-certified facilities located in China, India, and the USA. We routinely inspect our production facilities to ensure our products meet health, safety, and environmental standards.

Synergistic activity of ampicillin and cloxacillin
This study shows that a combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin shows excellent bactericidal activity in low concentrations. It shows higher efficacy than penicillins alone against isolated strains of E. coli.
The microbial degradation of ampicillin, which is caused by penicillinase, can be inhibited in the presence of cloxacillin. In cases of Staphylococcus aureus infections, ampicillin alone can be inhibited and a combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin is a better choice.
This research proved that a combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin is more effective.
Bacteriological and Clinical Evaluation of the Combination of Cloxacillin with Ampicillin
This research focused on testing the combination of ampicillin and cloxacillin against 300 pathogenic gram-negative bacteria in vitro. The synergistic activity was observed for 43% of strains of E. coli, 88% of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, 42% of Proteus mirabilis, and 56% of Klebsiella.
This is a randomized study that was performed on 48 patients with significant bacteriuria or urinary tract infections.
The conclusion is that a combination of these two antibiotics shows a broader antibacterial spectrum than either drug alone for bacterial infections.
