What is Allopurinol?
Active Ingredients: Allopurinol
Allopurinol Tablets are a drug used to reduce levels of uric acid in the body. It is used in the treatment and prevention of gout or some types of kidney stones. This medication is also used to treat high uric acid levels caused by cancer chemotherapy, psoriasis, or treatment with diuretics.
Allopurinol is classified as a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. The active ingredient works by blocking xanthine oxidase, an enzyme that aids the production of uric acid. When uric acid is high in the blood or urine, it can accumulate and crystalize in the body. This may lead to kidney stones or gout.
